Ingredients

  •  avocado ripe peeled chopped
  • cups less-sodium chicken broth fat-free
  • 0.3 cup cilantro leaves fresh
  •  garlic cloves chopped
  • 0.8 teaspoon ground cumin 
  •  jalapeno seeded chopped
  • 0.3 cup juice of lime fresh
  • teaspoons olive oil 
  • 1.3 cups onion chopped (1 medium)
  •  poblano chiles chopped
  • servings tomato salsa 
  • 0.8 teaspoon salt 
  • pound tomatillos quartered

Directions

  1. Heat oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat.
  2. Add onion and next 3 ingredients; saut 5 minutes or until tender.
  3. Add tomatillos and next 3 ingredients to pan; bring to a boil. Cover, reduce heat, and simmer 23 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Remove from heat; cover and chill 1 1/2 hours.
  5. Place avocado and half of soup in a blender; process until smooth.
  6. Transfer to a large bowl.
  7. Place remaining soup and cilantro in blender; process until smooth, and add to bowl. Stir in lime juice. Ladle soup into bowls; top with Tomato Salsa.
