  • teaspoon baking soda 
  • cup firmly brown sugar light packed
  • cup coconut or flaked
  • cup rice cereal crisp
  • large eggs 
  • cups flour all-purpose
  • cup regular oats uncooked
  • teaspoon salt 
  • cup shortening 
  • cup sugar 
  • teaspoon vanilla extract
