Ingredients

  • ounce cinnamon 
  •  cinnamon sticks 
  •  cranberries 
  • 2.5 ounces rum dark
  • serving ice cubes 
  •  lime wedges 
  • serving mint leaves 
  •  mint leaves 
  • inches orange zest 
  • serving seltzer water to taste
  • cup sugar 
  • cup water

Directions

  1. To make the cinnamon syrup: Dissolve sugar in water in a small saucepan over medium-high heat.
  2. Add cinnamon sticks and orange zest. Reduce heat to low, simmer for 10 minutes.
  3. Let cool, then strain.
  4. In a cocktail shaker, muddle cranberries lightly to break up, then add mint and lime and muddle another 10 strokes.
  5. Add cinnamon syrup and rum and fill the shaker with ice. Shake vigorously.
  6. Pour the cocktail unstrained into a glass, top with soda and garnish with a mint sprig.
