  • 1.5 teaspoons five spice powder 
  • 0.3 teaspoon pepper black freshly ground
  • tablespoons t brown sugar dark
  • 0.3 teaspoon ground cumin 
  • 0.3 teaspoon kosher salt 
  • cups pecans 
  • teaspoons vegetable oil 
  • teaspoons water

Directions

  1. Heat oven to 350°. In a medium saucepan, warm 4 teaspoonsvegetable oil over medium-low heat.
  2. Add 2 tablespoons plus 1 teaspoondark brown sugar, 4 teaspoons water, 1 1/2 teaspoons five-spice powder,1/4 teaspoon ground cumin and 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground blackpepper; stir until sugar dissolves and mixture bubbles.
  3. Add2 cups pecan halves; cook, stirring, until pecans are thicklycoated, about 3 minutes.
  4. Spread evenly on a baking sheetlined with parchment paper; sprinkle with 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt.
  5. Bake until fragrant and crisp, 8 to 10 minutes. Cool completely.
