Ingredients

  • cups brandy 
  •  cinnamon sticks 
  • 1.3 cups brown sugar dark packed ()
  • 1500 ml cooking wine dry red
  • 0.5 cup juice of lemon fresh
  •  nutmeg whole
  • cup orange juice fresh
  • inch long strip orange peel 
  • 1.3 cups water

Directions

  1. Bring first 5 ingredients to boil in large pot, stirring until sugar dissolves.
  2. Add wine; stir to heat through.
  3. Pour mixture into large heatproof glass, ceramic, or metal punch bowl.
  4. Mix in orange juice and lemon juice. Holding ladle over punch bowl, fill ladle with brandy; carefully ignite.
  5. Pour into punch bowl and allow flame to burn out.
  6. Mix in remaining brandy. Grate some nutmeg over punch.
