Ingredients

  • tablespoon balsamic vinegar 
  • 0.3 teaspoon pepper black
  • 0.3 cup cooking wine dry white
  • pound flank steak trimmed
  •  garlic clove minced
  • 0.5 cup green onions minced
  • cup less-sodium beef broth 
  • 0.5 cup onion chopped
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt 
  • cups shiitake mushroom caps thinly sliced ()

Directions

  1. Preheat broiler.
  2. To prepare steak, sprinkle salt and pepper evenly over both sides of steak.
  3. Place steak on a broiler pan coated with cooking spray; broil 5 minutes on each side or until desired degree of doneness.
  4. Remove the steak from oven; loosely cover with foil.
  5. To prepare sauce, heat a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Coat pan with cooking spray.
  6. Add 1/2 cup onion and garlic; saut 2 minutes.
  7. Add mushrooms; saut for 4 minutes.
  8. Add broth, wine, and vinegar. Bring to a boil; reduce heat to medium, and cook until reduced to 1 1/4 cups (about 6 minutes).
  9. Add green onions, and cook for 1 minute.
  10. Slice steak diagonally across the grain into 1/4-inch slices.
  11. Serve steak with mushroom sauce.
