Ingredients

  • ounce tomato sauce canned
  • ounce chile arbols dried seeded
  •  garlic cloves 
  • 1.5 teaspoons ground cumin 
  • cups onion chopped
  • teaspoons oregano dried
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt 
  • 0.5 cup tomatillos chopped ( 2)
  • 0.5 cup water boiling
  • cup water

  • sauce pan
  • blender

Directions

  1. Combine chiles and boiling water; let stand 30 minutes.
  2. Drain.
  3. Combine chiles, onion, and next 6 ingredients (onion through garlic) in a medium saucepan.
  4. Place over medium-high heat; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer 20 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat; cool 15 minutes.
  6. Place onion mixture in a blender or food processor; process until blended (do not overblend).
  7. Add tomato sauce; stir well.
