  • 0.3 cup torn basil leaves fresh
  • 0.1 teaspoon pepper black freshly ground
  • teaspoons garlic minced
  • ounces sausage sweet italian
  • teaspoons olive oil 
  • cup onion vertically sliced
  • tablespoons pecorino romano cheese fresh divided grated
  • ounces multigrain penne gluten-free uncooked (such as DeBoles)
  • 0.3 teaspoon salt 
  • 1.3 pounds tomatoes chopped
