Ingredients

  • tablespoon anise seed 
  • pound beef chuck boneless
  • 0.5 cup flour all-purpose
  • cloves garlic minced
  • large bell pepper green julienned
  • servings salt and ground pepper black to taste
  • tablespoons olive oil 
  • tablespoon sesame seed 
  • cup water

Directions

  1. Rinse and pat dry the roast. Coat the roast evenly with the flour; season with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the garlic to the hot oil; sear the beef in the oil until all sides are slightly browned.
  4. Transfer the roast to a slow cooker.
  5. Pour the water over the roast.
  6. Cook on Low for 5 hours.
  7. Add the anise seed and sesame seed to the slow cooker and cook another 4 hours.
  8. Add the green bell pepper and continue cooking until the meat is tender and easily pulled apart, about 1 hour more.
