Ingredients

  • 0.8 cup brown sugar 
  • 0.3 cup flour all-purpose
  • medium granny smith apples peeled sliced
  • teaspoon ground cinnamon 
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground nutmeg 
  • 1.5 tablespoons juice of lemon 
  • 15 ounce piecrusts refrigerated divided
  • 0.5 cup sugar

Directions

  1. Stack 2 piecrusts; gently roll or press together. Fit pastry into a 9-inch deep-dish pieplate.
  2. Toss together apple and lemon juice in a large bowl.
  3. Combine brown sugar and next 4 ingredients; sprinkle over apple mixture, and toss to coat. Spoon into prepared piecrust.
  4. Roll remaining piecrust to press out fold lines; place over filling. Fold edges under, and crimp; cut slits in top for steam to escape.
  5. Bake at 450 for 15 minutes. Reduce oven temperature to 350, and bake 35 minutes.
