  • cups dates whole pitted
  •  golden delicious apple cored peeled quartered
  •  apples i use 2 granny smith apples cored peeled quartered
  • 0.3 cup red wine sweet
  • 0.5 cup walnuts coarsely chopped
  • cups water 

Equipment

  • sauce pan

Directions

  1. Combine dates, water, and apples in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce heat, and simmer 25 minutes or until apples are tender, stirring occasionally.
  2. Remove from heat; cool at least 15 minutes.
  3. Place apple mixture and wine in a food processor; pulse 5 times (mixture will be chunky).
  4. Add nuts; pulse 2 times to combine.
