Ingredients

  • 1.5 lb ground beef 80% lean (at least )
  • 0.3 cup onion finely chopped
  • 0.3 cup beer 
  • tablespoon worcestershire sauce 
  • teaspoon salt 
  • 0.3 teaspoon pepper 
  • cloves garlic finely chopped
  •  hamburger buns whole wheat split
  • serving catsup 
  • serving toppings: such as pickles

Directions

  1. Heat gas or charcoal grill. In medium bowl, mix all ingredients except buns, ketchup and pickles. Shape mixture into 6 patties, about 3/4 inch thick.
  2. Place patties on grill rack over medium heat. Cover grill; cook 10 to 15 minutes, turning once, until meat thermometer inserted in center of patties reads 160°F.
  3. Add buns, cut sides down, for last 4 minutes of grilling or until toasted.
  4. Top burgers with ketchup and pickle planks; serve on buns.
