Ingredients

  • 14.5 ounce canned tomatoes whole undrained chopped canned
  • 0.5 teaspoon fennel seeds crushed
  • 0.3 cup basil fresh chopped
  • large clove garlic minced
  • teaspoon olive oil 
  • cup onion chopped
  • tablespoon oregano fresh chopped
  • 0.1 teaspoon pepper 
  • 0.1 teaspoon salt 
  • tablespoon no-salt-added tomato paste 
  • 0.5 cup water

Directions

  1. Heat olive oil in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat until hot.
  2. Add onion and garlic; cook, stirring constantly, 4 minutes or until tender.
  3. Add basil, oregano, and fennel seeds; cook, stirring constantly, 1 minute.
  4. Add tomatoes and remaining ingredients; bring to a boil. Reduce heat, and simmer, uncovered, 15 minutes.
  5. Serve with pasta.
