Ingredients

  • cup apple cider 
  •  cinnamon sticks 
  •  granny smith and golden delicious apples cored peeled cut into 1/2-inch slices
  • 0.3 teaspoon ground cinnamon 
  •  juice of lemon juiced
  • 0.3 cup brown sugar light
  • Dash nutmeg 

Equipment

  • potato masher

Directions

  1. Add apples, apple cider, lemon juice, sugar, cinnamon sticks and a dash of nutmeg to a large saucepan. Bring to a boil, cover with a lid and reduce to a simmer.
  2. Let cook for 15 minutes or until apples are tender.
  3. Remove cinnamon sticks and discard.
  4. Mash with a potato masher, and stir in the 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon and dash of nutmeg.
  5. Transfer to a serving dish and serve warm.
