  • cup rice white cooked
  • large eggs 
  • 0.3 teaspoon fennel seeds 
  • 0.3 cup parsley fresh finely chopped
  • cloves garlic finely chopped
  • pound ground beef 
  • small onion finely chopped
  • teaspoon salt 
  • cup tomato sauce

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350F. Line a baking sheet with heavy-duty aluminum foil.
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground chuck, onion, garlic, tomato sauce, parsley, egg, salt, fennel seeds and rice.
  3. Mix with your fingers until well combined (but do not overmix).
  4. Pat mixture into an 8-by-4-inch loaf and place on baking sheet.
  5. Bake until an instant-read thermometer inserted into center registers 160F and meat is no longer pink, about 1 hour and 15 minutes.
  6. Let stand 10 minutes on baking sheet before slicing.
