Ingredients

  • tablespoons brown sugar 
  • servings spicy cabbage 
  • 0.5 teaspoon pepper red crushed
  • teaspoons sesame oil dark
  • pound flank steak trimmed
  • tablespoon ginger fresh minced peeled
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic minced
  • 0.3 cup green onions chopped
  • 0.3 cup soya sauce low-sodium
  • tablespoons mirin sweet ( rice wine)
  • 1.5 tablespoons sesame seed crushed toasted

Equipment

Directions

  1. Combine first 9 ingredients in a bowl, stirring until sugar dissolves. Reserve 1/3 cup marinade.
  2. Pour remaining marinade into a large zip-top plastic bag.
  3. Add meat, and marinate in refrigerator 8 hours, turning bag occasionally.
  4. Preheat broiler.
  5. Remove meat from bag; discard marinade from bag.
  6. Place meat on a broiler pan coated with cooking spray. Broil 6 to 8 minutes per side.
  7. Let stand 5 minutes.
  8. Place reserved 1/3 cup marinade in a small saucepan. Cook over medium heat 2 to 3 minutes or until hot.
  9. Cut steak diagonally across grain into thin slices.
  10. Serve over Spicy Cabbage; drizzle with reserved marinade.
