Ingredients

  •  bay leaves 
  • cups tomatoes canned crushed
  • ribs celery peeled
  • tablespoons cinnamon 
  • cups 1/4 cup dried cranberry (juice sweetened if possible) 
  • large bunch optional: dill 
  • cup golden black
  •  granny smith apples unpeeled quartered
  • pounds ground beef lean
  • 0.3 cup olive oil 
  • large onion quartered
  •  cinnamon paprika 
  • drop salt and pepper to taste (just a if at all)
  • cups short grain brown rice 
  • 0.3 cup tomato paste 
  • large head cabbage white very thin sliced (food processor)

Directions

  1. Heat the oil in a wide bottom pot.In a food processor, coarsely grind the onion, celery, apples and dill.
  2. Add the ground mixture to the pot and saute until translucent.
  3. Add the meat and saute a few more minutes, stirring, until no longer pink.
  4. Add all remaining ingredients and bring to a boil.Reduce the flame to medium, and cook, covered, 1 hour, or a little longer, until the cabbage is very tender.
  5. Transfer onto a platter, and serve hot.
