  • tablespoons brown sugar 
  • 1.5 pounds brussels sprouts fresh
  • tablespoons butter 
  • 0.5 cup juice of lemon fresh
  • teaspoons lemon zest 
  • 0.1 teaspoon pepper freshly ground
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt 
  • 0.5 cup water

Directions

  1. Wash brussels sprouts; remove discolored leaves. Trim ends, and cut sprouts in half lengthwise; set aside.
  2. Melt butter in a large skillet; add lemon juice, water, brown sugar, and salt. Bring to a boil.
  3. Add brussels sprouts; cover, reduce heat, and simmer 15 minutes or until sprouts are tender. Uncover, increase heat to high, and cook 4 minutes or until most of liquid evaporates.
  4. Remove from heat. Stir in lemon zest and freshly ground pepper.
