  • 2.7 cups ginger ale chilled
  • 0.4 inch gingerroot peeled
  • servings ice cubes 
  •  optional: lemon thinly sliced
  • 0.3 cup sugar 
  •  regular-size zinger tea bags red
  • 1.5 cups water

Directions

  1. Reserve 4 lemon slices, and set aside.
  2. Combine remaining lemon slices, water, tea bags, and gingerroot in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil; cover, reduce heat, and simmer 5 minutes.
  3. Remove from heat, and stir in sugar.
  4. Let cool completely; chill at least 1 hour.
  5. Strain tea mixture, discarding tea bags, lemon slices, and gingerroot. Stir in ginger ale.
  6. Place ice cubes and reserved lemon slices in 4 glasses; pour tea over ice.
  7. Serve immediately.
