Ingredients

  • 0.8 cup chicken broth 
  • 0.3 cup lentils dried
  •  to 2 garlic cloves pressed
  • 0.3 teaspoon ground pepper red
  • tablespoon juice of lemon 
  • teaspoon sesame oil

Directions

  1. Bring lentils and chicken broth to a boil in a small saucepan; partially cover, reduce heat, and simmer 20 minutes or until tender.
  2. Drain.
  3. Process lentils, lemon juice, and next 3 ingredients in a food processor until smooth, stopping to scrape down sides. Chill up to 3 days, if desired.
  4. Sprinkle top of spread with toasted sesame seeds, if desired.
  5. Serve with crackers or raw vegetables.
