  • 0.5 teaspoon pepper red crushed
  • 0.3 cup basil fresh chopped
  •  garlic cloves minced
  • ounces pasta uncooked
  • 1.5 pounds mussels scrubbed ( 24 mussels)
  • teaspoons olive oil 
  • 0.3 cup shallots chopped
  • 26 ounce tomato-basil pasta sauce

Directions

  1. Cook linguine according to package directions, omitting salt and fat.
  2. Heat oil in a Dutch oven over medium heat.
  3. Add shallots and garlic; cook 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Add pasta sauce and red pepper. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, 5 minutes. Stir in mussels; cover and simmer 6 to 8 minutes or until shells open.
  5. Remove mussels from heat; discard any unopened shells.
  6. Divide linguine evenly among 4 bowls.
  7. Place mussels over linguine, and ladle marinara sauce over mussels.
  8. Sprinkle with basil.
