Ingredients

  • medium sweet potatoes and into peeled cut into 1-inch pieces ( 3 lb)
  • 1.5 cups yogurt plain fat free (from 3 containers, 6 oz each)
  • 0.5 cup butter unsalted softened
  • tablespoons brown sugar packed
  • teaspoon sea salt 
  • 0.5 teaspoon chili powder 
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon 
  • 0.3 teaspoon pepper black freshly ground
  • 0.3 teaspoon ground cumin 
  • 0.3 teaspoon garlic powder 
  • 0.1 teaspoon ground cloves 
  • tablespoons chives fresh finely chopped

Directions

  1. Place sweet potatoes in 4-quart saucepan.
  2. Add water to cover.
  3. Heat to boiling. Reduce heat; boil gently (simmer) about 12 minutes or until tender.
  4. Drain; return potatoes to pan.
  5. Add 1 cup of the Greek yogurt, the butter, 3 tablespoons of the brown sugar, the salt and remaining spices. Mash with potato masher until smooth.
  6. In small bowl, mix remaining 1/2 cup Greek yogurt and remaining 1 tablespoon brown sugar until smooth.
  7. Serve potatoes warm, topped with sweetened yogurt and chives.
