Ingredients

  • 4.5 cups apple cider 
  • sticks cinnamon (3-inch)
  • inch ginger fresh peeled
  • tablespoons sugar (such as Brown Sugar Twin)
  • cup water 
  •  allspice whole

Equipment

  • sauce pan
  • cheesecloth

Directions

  1. Combine first 3 ingredients in a saucepan, stirring well.
  2. Place cinnamon sticks and remaining 3 ingredients on a 6-inch square of cheesecloth; tie with string.
  3. Add spice bag to cider mixture.
  4. Bring to a simmer over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat to low, and cook, uncovered, 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Discard spice bag.
  5. Pour into individual mugs, and serve warm.
