  • 0.5 cup basil fresh chopped
  •  garlic clove pressed
  • tablespoon hot sauce 
  • tablespoons juice of lemon fresh
  • tablespoon lemon zest grated
  • small onion red sliced
  • cup red wine vinegar 
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt 
  • pounds shrimp fresh unpeeled
  • tablespoons sugar 
  • cup vegetable oil 
  • 7.5 cups water 
  • tablespoon worcestershire sauce 
  •  bell pepper yellow sliced

Directions

  1. Bring 7 1/2 cups water to a boil; add shrimp, and cook 2 to 3 minutes or until shrimp turn pink.
  2. Drain and rinse with cold water. Peel shrimp, and, if desired, devein.
  3. Layer shrimp, red onion slices, and bell pepper slices in an airtight container.
  4. Whisk together vegetable oil and next 9 ingredients; pour over shrimp. Cover and chill 24 hours, stirring occasionally.
  5. Stir in 1/2 cup chopped basil 1 hour before serving.
