  • 0.5 cup apple juice 
  • pounds apples cored cut into wedges
  • pounds purée of usa bartlett pear red cored cut into wedges
  • 0.3 cup brown sugar packed
  • sticks cinnamon (3-inch)
  • 0.5  optional: lemon cut into 2 pieces

Directions

  1. Combine first 5 ingredients in a large saucepan; bring to a boil. Cover, reduce heat, and simmer 45 minutes or until the fruit is tender. Discard cinnamon sticks and lemon. Press fruit mixture through a sieve over a bowl using the back of a spoon, and discard skins. Stir in brown sugar.
  2. Serve sauce at room temperature or chilled.
