Ingredients

  • 0.3 teaspoon cream of tartar 
  •  egg whites 
  • pinch salt 
  • teaspoon vanilla extract 
  • 0.3 cup water 
  • 1.5 cups sugar white

Equipment

  • double boiler

Directions

  1. In the top of a double boiler, combine all ingredients but the vanilla.
  2. Beat 1 minute.
  3. Cook over boiling water beating constantly for 7 minutes or until the icing makes firm peaks.
  4. Remove from the heat and add the vanilla. Beat until able to spread. NOTE: You can add coloring with the ingredients. You can also use another flavoring in place of the vanilla.
