  • lb stew meat 
  • 30 oz black beans rinsed drained progresso® canned
  • 29 oz canned tomatoes diced with green chiles, undrained canned
  • tablespoons chili powder 
  • teaspoons garlic finely chopped
  • tablespoon ground cumin 
  • cup onion coarsely chopped
  • 0.1 teaspoon pepper 
  • teaspoon salt 
  • tablespoon vegetable oil 
  • 0.5 cup water

Directions

  1. In 12-inch skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat.
  2. Add onions and garlic; cook 4 to 5 minutes, stirring frequently, until onions are softened.
  3. Stir in chili powder, cumin, salt, pepper and beef. Cook 6 to 8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until beef is lightly browned.
  4. In 3- to 4-quart slow cooker, place beef mixture. Stir in beans, tomatoes and water.
  5. Cover; cook on Low heat setting 8 to 10 hours. Stir well before serving.
