Ingredients

  • cups water 
  • 16 ounces peas dried split rinsed ()
  • teaspoon salt 
  • 0.3 teaspoon pepper 
  • medium carrots cut into 1/4-inch slices (1 1/2 cups)
  • cup celery stalks finely chopped
  • 0.5 cup onion chopped
  •  ham smoked

Equipment

Directions

  1. Spray inside of 4- to 5-quart slow cooker with cooking spray.
  2. Add all ingredients except ham; mix together.
  3. Add ham.
  4. Cover and cook on Low heat setting 8 to 10 hours or until peas are tender.
  5. Remove ham from cooker; place on cutting board. Pull meat from bones, using 2 forks; discard bones and skin. Stir ham into soup. Stir well before serving.
