  • ounces hickory-smoked bacon diced uncooked ()
  • 0.5 teaspoon pepper black freshly ground
  • 0.3 cup cider vinegar 
  • cup less-sodium chicken broth fat-free
  • pounds green beans trimmed cut into 2-inch pieces
  • cup onion chopped
  • teaspoon salt 
  • cup water

Directions

  1. Heat a large Dutch oven over medium heat.
  2. Add bacon; saut 3 minutes or until lightly browned.
  3. Remove bacon from pan, reserving 2 teaspoons drippings in pan.
  4. Add onion; saut 5 minutes or until tender.
  5. Add bacon, broth, water, salt, pepper, and beans; bring to a boil. Cover, reduce heat, and simmer 30 minutes or until beans are very tender. Uncover; cook 5 minutes.
  6. Drizzle beans with vinegar, and simmer for 5 minutes.
  7. Serve warm.
