  • tablespoon chiles in adobo sauce canned
  • 0.3 teaspoon pepper black freshly ground
  •  chipotle chile canned minced
  • teaspoon chili powder 
  • tablespoon flour all-purpose
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cumin 
  • cup less-sodium beef broth divided
  • tablespoon brown sugar light
  • teaspoons olive oil 
  • 0.3 teaspoon salt 
  • tablespoon tomato paste 
  • pound beef top sirloin steaks trimmed

Equipment

  • whisk

Directions

  1. Combine first 5 ingredients in a small bowl; rub evenly over steak.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Add steak; cook 3 to 4 minutes on each side or until desired degree of doneness.
  4. Remove steak from pan, and keep warm.
  5. Combine 3/4 cup broth and next 3 ingredients; add to pan, and cook 4 minutes, scraping pan to loosen browned bits.
  6. Combine flour and remaining 1/4 cup broth, stirring with a whisk.
  7. Add to pan; cook 1 minute or until slightly thickened.
  8. Remove from heat.
  9. Cut steak diagonally across grain into thin slices.
  10. Serve with chipotle sauce.
