Ingredients

  • cup basil 
  • 0.3 teaspoon pepper black freshly ground
  • teaspoons canola oil divided
  • teaspoons t brown sugar dark
  • tablespoon fish sauce 
  • teaspoons garlic fresh minced
  • pound ground chicken 
  • tablespoon juice of lime fresh
  •  lime wedges 
  • teaspoons soy sauce 
  • 0.5 cup bell pepper red thinly sliced
  •  serrano chiles minced
  • 0.5 cup shallots minced

Directions

  1. Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add 2 teaspoons oil to pan; swirl to coat.
  3. Add shallots; saut 2 minutes.
  4. Add bell pepper; saut 1 minute.
  5. Add garlic; saut 30 seconds.
  6. Remove shallot mixture from pan.
  7. Add remaining 2 teaspoons oil to pan; swirl to coat.
  8. Add chicken; cook 5 minutes or until browned, stirring to crumble.
  9. Drain well. Return chicken to pan over medium heat.
  10. Add chiles; cook 1 minute.
  11. Add shallot mixture to pan. Stir in fish sauce and next 3 ingredients (through black pepper); cook 1 minute or until thoroughly heated.
  12. Remove pan from heat; stir in basil and juice.
  13. Serve with lime wedges.
