  • tablespoon butter melted
  • ounces elbow macaroni uncooked
  • tablespoons flour all-purpose
  • cup milk 1% low-fat
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt 
  • ounces sharp cheddar cheese shredded reduced-fat
  • 1.5 ounce sandwich bread white

Directions

  1. Cook pasta according to package directions, omitting salt and fat.
  2. Drain.
  3. Combine milk and flour in a medium saucepan, stirring with a whisk. Cook over medium heat 2 minutes or until thick, stirring constantly with a whisk.
  4. Add cheese, salt, and pepper, stirring with a whisk until smooth.
  5. Add pasta; toss to coat.
  6. Let stand 4 minutes.
