Ingredients

  • cups brown sugar divided
  • tablespoons butter melted
  • teaspoons yeast dry
  •  eggs 
  • cups flour 
  • tablespoon ground cinnamon 
  • 0.5 cup milk 
  • 0.3 cup sugar 
  • cup walnut pieces divided chopped
  • 0.5 cup water

Directions

  1. Combine yeast, water and sugar in a small bowl and allow to proof (become bubbly). In a large bowl, combine proofed yeast mixture, milk, butter, eggs, and sugar until well combined.
  2. Add flour 1/2 cup at a time, while mixing, until soft dough is formed.
  3. Place dough in a greased bowl and let rest in a warm place for 1 – 1 1/2 hours.
  4. Combine 3/4 cup brown sugar and melted butter and mix until well combined.
  5. Pour into bottom of pyrex dish, and sprinkle with 1/4 cup chopped walnuts.
  6. Roll out dough to 18x14 inch rectangle, and brush with 4 tablespoons butter.
  7. Sprinkle with remaining 1/4 cup sugar, 3/4 cup chopped walnuts, and cinnamon.
  8. Roll up jelly-roll style and slice into 12 pieces.
  9. Place rolls in pyrex dish and allow to rise in a warm place, about 1 hour.
  10. Preheat oven to 375°.
  11. Brush top of buns with leftover butter and sprinkle with turbinado sugar (if desired).
  12. Bake until tops of buns are golden brown, about 40 minutes.
  13. Remove from oven and let sit 4 minutes. Invert onto a large platter and scrape any remaining sugar and nuts over the top.
  14. Serve warm with hot tea and coffee.
