  • 1.3 cups water boiling
  • cup dates chopped
  • teaspoon baking soda 
  • 0.5 cup semi chocolate chips 
  • 0.5 cup nuts chopped
  • 0.3 cup brown sugar packed
  • 0.3 cup flour all-purpose
  • tablespoon butter softened
  • 1.8 cups flour all-purpose
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar 
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar packed
  • 0.7 cup vegetable oil 
  • teaspoon baking soda 
  • teaspoon vanilla 
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt 
  •  eggs

Directions

  1. In large bowl, pour boiling water on dates. Stir in 1 teaspoon baking soda. Cool about 15 minutes or until lukewarm.
  2. In small bowl, mix all topping ingredients; set aside.
  3. Heat oven to 350°F. Stir all cake ingredients into date mixture.
  4. Pour into ungreased 9-inch square pan.
  5. Sprinkle with topping.
  6. Bake 50 to 55 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely, about 2 hours.
