Ingredients

  • 0.3 teaspoon pepper black freshly ground
  • tablespoons butter 
  • 0.3 cup basil fresh chopped
  • teaspoon garlic minced
  • 1.5 cups milk 
  • tablespoon parmesan cheese grated
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt 
  • cups pkt spinach fresh
  • 28 ounce tomato purée canned
  • tablespoon sugar white
  • large onion yellow chopped

Directions

  1. Melt butter in a large saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Saute onion and garlic for 3 minutes. Stir in milk and cook for 2 minutes, stirring occasionally. Stir in tomato puree and sugar.
  3. Mix well, cover and bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce heat to low and simmer, covered, for 5 minutes.
  4. Add spinach, basil, salt and pepper and simmer, uncovered, for 2 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Sprinkle with parmesan cheese, if desired.
