- 1 cup carambola sliced (star fruit)
- 1 stick cinnamon (2-inch)
- 0.1 teaspoon pepper red crushed
- 0.5 inch ginger fresh peeled
- 3 cups mangos ripe cubed peeled ( 1 large)
- 0.5 teaspoon orange rind grated
- 3 cups papaya cubed peeled ( 1 small)
- 0.5 cup mirin sweet
- 3 star anise
- 0.5 cup sugar
- 1 cup water

Directions
- Bring water and sugar to a boil in a medium saucepan; cook 3 minutes or until sugar dissolves.
- Add pepper, ginger, anise, and cinnamon. Reduce heat; cook until reduced to 1/2 cup (about 20 minutes).
- Remove from heat; stir in wine and rind. Cool completely. Strain mixture through a small sieve over a bowl; discard solids.
- Combine wine mixture and fruit in a bowl, and toss gently. Chill 30 minutes.
