Ingredients

  •  crusty baguette toasted cut into 16 slices (1/2 inch each) and
  • tablespoon chives fresh chopped
  • ounces tuna in olive oil spanish flaked drained canned (such as Ortiz)
  • tablespoon olive oil extra virgin spanish extra-virgin (preferably )
  •  plum tomatoes halved lengthwise
  • 0.5 teaspoon sea salt divided
  • medium onion yellow thinly sliced

Directions

  1. Heat oil in a medium pan over low heat. Cook onion until golden brown, about 30 minutes. (
  2. Add 1 to 2 tablespoons water if onions stick.)
  3. Add 1/4 teaspoon sea salt; set aside.
  4. Place a grater over a bowl. Rub cut surfaces of tomatoes across grater. Discard skins.
  5. Add remaining ¼ tsp salt.
  6. Spread grated tomato over toasts (about 1 teaspoon per toast). Top with onion and tuna.
  7. Garnish with chives.
