Ingredients

  • 0.3 cup almonds lightly toasted chopped
  • teaspoons double-acting baking powder 
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking soda 
  • tablespoons brown sugar 
  • cup cake flour sifted
  •  egg white lightly beaten
  • cup flour all-purpose
  • tablespoon flour all-purpose
  • tablespoons butter 
  • ounce carton nonfat yogurt plain
  • 0.3 teaspoon salt

Directions

  1. Combine first 6 ingredients in a medium bowl; cut in margarine with a pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse meal.
  2. Add almonds; toss well.
  3. Add yogurt to dry ingredients, stirring just until dry ingredients are moistened.
  4. Sprinkle 1 tablespoon flour evenly over work surface. Turn dough out onto floured surface, and knead 3 or 4 times. Pat dough into an 8-inch round on a baking sheet coated with cooking spray.
  5. Cut round into 8 wedges, cutting to, but not through, bottom of dough.
  6. Brush wedges with egg white.
  7. Bake at 425 for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden.
