  • cups cooking apples cored peeled sliced
  • teaspoon double-acting baking powder 
  • cup firmly brown sugar packed
  • 0.5 cup butter softened
  • teaspoons cornstarch 
  • cups cranberries fresh thawed
  • large eggs 
  • cup flour all-purpose
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon 
  • 1.5 tablespoons milk 
  • 0.3 teaspoon salt 
  • 0.5 cup sugar 
  • teaspoon vanilla extract 
  • 0.3 cup water 
  • 0.5 cup wheat germ

Directions

  1. Combine first 4 ingredients; set aside.
  2. Beat butter at medium speed of an electric mixer until creamy. Gradually add sugar; beat well.
  3. Add milk and egg; beat well. Stir in flour mixture; set batter aside.
  4. Combine sliced apple and next 4 ingredients in a large bowl.
  5. Combine cornstarch and water.
  6. Add to apple mixture; stir well. Spoon apple mixture into a lightly greased 11" x 7" x 1 1/2" baking dish. Drop batter by spoonfuls over fruit mixture.
  7. Bake, uncovered, at 350 for 45 or 50 minutes or until golden. If desired, serve warm with Vanilla Bean Hard Sauce or ice cream.
