Ingredients

  • oz asiago cheese shredded
  • tablespoon brown sugar packed
  • tablespoons butter 
  •  egg whites beaten
  • 0.5 teaspoon poppy seeds 
  • 13.8 oz pizza dough refrigerated canned
  • large onion sweet thinly sliced cut in half, ( 2 cups)
  • teaspoon thyme leaves dried

Directions

  1. Heat oven to 425F. Spray large cookie sheet with cooking spray.
  2. In 10-inch skillet, melt butter over medium heat.
  3. Add onion; cook about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until onion is golden brown. Stir in brown sugar and thyme. Cook 1 to 2 minutes, stirring occasionally, until sugar is dissolved.
  4. Remove from heat.
  5. Unroll pizza dough; place on cookie sheet. Starting at center, roll or press dough into 15x10-inch rectangle.
  6. Sprinkle cheese down center third of dough. Spoon onion mixture evenly over cheese.
  7. With scissors or sharp knife, make cuts 1 inch apart on both long sides of dough to within 1/2 inch of filling. Alternately cross strips diagonally over filling; turn ends under and press to seal.
  8. Brush egg white over top.
  9. Sprinkle with poppy seed.
  10. Bake 11 to 15 minutes or until crust is golden brown.
  11. Let stand 5 minutes before serving.
  12. Remove from cookie sheet; cut crosswise into slices.
