  • pound asparagus 
  • 0.3 teaspoon pepper black
  • teaspoons dijon mustard 
  • 0.5 teaspoon basil dried
  • 0.8 cup egg substitute 
  • 1.7 cups milk fat-free
  • ounces fontina shredded
  • 0.5 cup ham chopped reduced-fat
  • teaspoon olive oil 
  • cup onion chopped
  • 0.3 teaspoon salt 
  • ounce sandwich bread white firm cut into 1/2-inch cubes (such as Pepperidge Farm Farmhouse)

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 37
  2. Cut a 3-inch tip from each asparagus spear, reserving the stalks for another use.
  3. Cut asparagus tips into 1/2-inch pieces.
  4. Heat oil in a nonstick skillet over medium-high heat.
  5. Add onion; saute for 5 minutes or until tender, stirring frequently.
  6. Add asparagus; cover and cook 4 minutes, stirring once.
  7. Remove from heat, and set aside.
  8. Coat 6 (10-ounce) custard cups or ramekins with cooking spray; place in a large baking pan.
  9. Place bread cubes evenly into custard cups. Top evenly with asparagus mixture, ham, and cheese.
  10. Combine milk and remaining ingredients, stirring with a whisk.
  11. Pour evenly into custard cups; let stand 20 minutes.
  12. Add hot water to pan to a depth of 1 inch. Cover and bake at 375 for 30 minutes. Uncover and bake an additional 15 minutes.
  13. Let stand 10 minutes before serving.
