Ingredients

  • tablespoons stick margarine 
  • medium onion thinly sliced cut into fourths and
  • 0.5 cup cranberries dried
  • tablespoon brown sugar packed
  • tablespoon balsamic vinegar 
  • serving vegetable oil 
  • 15 ounces round of président brie 
  • 0.3 cup slivered almonds coarsely chopped
  • serving round buttery crackers

Directions

  1. Heat oven to 350°.
  2. Melt butter in 10-inch skillet over medium heat. Cook onion in butter 10 minutes, stirring frequently. Stir in cranberries, brown sugar and vinegar. Cook about 5 minutes, stirring frequently, until mixture is thickened and caramelized.
  3. Lightly brush ovenproof plate with oil.
  4. Place cheese on center of plate.
  5. Bake uncovered 8 to 10 minutes or until cheese is soft and partially melted.
  6. Spoon onion topping over cheese.
  7. Sprinkle with nuts.
  8. Serve with crackers.
