  • 0.5 teaspoon pepper black freshly ground

  • pounds calamari whole thinly sliced (squid)
  • teaspoon thyme leaves fresh chopped
  • cloves garlic cut in 1/2
  • tablespoons olive oil 
  • servings olive oil for drizzling
  • teaspoon pepper flakes red
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt 
  • 1.8 cups tomato sauce 
  • cup white wine 
  • cloves garlic whole

Directions

  1. For the Calamari Stew: Warm the olive oil over medium heat in a medium pot.
  2. Add the garlic and let cook until fragrant, about 2 minutes.
  3. Remove the garlic.
  4. Add the tomato sauce, white wine, thyme, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
  5. Add the calamari and stir to combine. Continue to cook until the mixture comes back up to a simmer, about 2 more minutes.
  6. Serve immediately with the Garlic Toasts.
  7. For the Garlic Toast: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  8. Meanwhile, drizzle the bread slices with olive oil. Toast until the bread is crisp and turning golden brown, about 8 to 10 minutes.
  9. Remove from the oven and rub the top of the toasts with whole garlic cloves.
  10. Serve immediately with the Calamari Stew.
