  • slices bacon 
  • 0.3 teaspoon thyme leaves dried
  • large egg whites

  • cup milk fat-free
  • 0.3 cup basil fresh thinly sliced
  •  garlic cloves minced
  • ounce multi-grain bread cut into 1/2-inch cubes reduced-carb
  • 0.5 cup onion coarsely chopped
  • 0.3 teaspoon pepper 
  •  plum tomatoes sliced into 1/2-inch-thick slices
  • 0.3 teaspoon salt 
  • ounces sharp cheddar cheese shredded divided reduced-fat

Directions

  1. Cook bacon in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat until crisp.
  2. Remove bacon from pan; crumble, and set aside.
  3. Add onion to drippings in pan; saut 4 minutes.
  4. Add garlic, and saut 1 minute.
  5. Remove from heat.
  6. Combine milk and next 6 ingredients in a large bowl; stir well with a whisk.
  7. Add bread cubes to milk mixture, tossing to coat bread cubes.
  8. Arrange half of bread cubes in bottom of an 11 x 7-inch baking dish coated with cooking spray. Top with 2/3 cup cheese and half of onion mixture.
  9. Add remaining bread cubes, 2/3 cup cheese, and remaining onion mixture. Top with tomato slices and crumbled bacon. Cover and chill at least 8 hours.
  10. Preheat oven to 32
  11. Bake, uncovered, at 325 for 55 minutes.
  12. Sprinkle with remaining cheese; bake an additional 5 minutes or until cheese melts.
  13. Let stand 5 minutes before serving.
