Ingredients

  • box brownie mix (1 lb 6.25 oz)
  • teaspoon maraschino cherries 
  • oz cream cheese softened
  •  eggs 
  •  eggs 
  • 0.3 cup maraschino cherries chopped
  • 0.3 cup sugar 
  • 0.5 cup vegetable oil 
  • 0.3 cup water

Directions

  1. Heat oven to 350F (325F for dark or nonstick pan). Grease bottom only of 9-inch square pan with shortening or cooking spray.
  2. In medium bowl, beat cream cheese, sugar, cherries, cherry juice and 1 egg with electric mixer on medium speed until smooth; set aside.
  3. In another medium bowl, combine brownie mix, pouch of chocolate syrup, oil, water and 2 eggs until well blended.
  4. Spread half of the batter in pan.
  5. Spread cream cheese mixture over batter. Carefully spoon remaining batter on top; spread gently to cover.
  6. Bake 43 to 47 minutes or until toothpick inserted 1 inch from side of pan comes out almost clean. Cool completely, about 1 1/2 hours, before cutting. Store covered in refrigerator.
