Ingredients

  • ounce bittersweet chocolate chopped
  • cups bread french
  • 0.7 cup brown sugar light packed
  • 10 servings milk chocolate shavings 
  •  egg yolk lightly beaten
  • cup milk 
  • 0.3 cup butter unsalted
  • teaspoon vanilla extract 
  • cups whipping cream 
  • 10 servings irish whiskey

Directions

  1. Melt butter in a large heavy skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add bread cubes, and cook, stirring constantly, 3 minutes or until golden.
  3. Transfer to a lightly greased 13- x 9-inch baking dish.
  4. Bring whipping cream and milk to a boil over medium heat in skillet.
  5. Remove from heat, and whisk in chocolate until smooth.
  6. Whisk in egg yolks, brown sugar, and vanilla.
  7. Pour over bread cubes; let stand 30 minutes. Cover with foil; cut 6 small holes in foil to allow steam to escape.
  8. Place baking dish in a roasting pan.
  9. Add hot water to pan to a depth of 1 1/2 inches.
  10. Bake at 325 for 1 hour and 45 minutes or until set.
  11. Remove bread pudding from water. Cool 30 minutes on a wire rack.
