Ingredients

  • 0.5 cup butter cold (1 stick)
  • Tbsp calumet baking powder 
  •  eggs 
  • 2.5 cups flour 
  • 0.5 tsp salt 
  • oz baker's semi-sweet chocolate chopped (6 oz.)
  • 0.3 cup sugar divided
  • 0.8 cup whipping cream

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 400F.
  2. Mix flour, 1/3 cup of the sugar, baking powder and salt in large bowl.
  3. Cut in butter with pastry blender or 2 knives until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Beat egg and cream with wire whisk until well blended.
  4. Add to flour mixture; stir until mixture forms soft dough. Stir in chopped chocolate.
  5. Place dough on floured surface; knead until dough is no longer sticky.
  6. Place on greased baking sheet; pat out dough with hands to 10-inch circle. Score top with sharp knife into 12 wedges.
  7. Sprinkle with remaining 1 Tbsp. sugar.
  8. Bake 23 to 25 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Cut into 12 wedges to serve.
