  • 0.5 tablespoon baking soda 
  •  eggs beaten
  • cups flour all-purpose
  • 0.5 teaspoon nutmeg 
  • 0.5 teaspoon lemon zest 
  • tablespoons milk 
  • 0.3 teaspoon salt 
  • 0.5 cup shortening 
  • cup granulated sugar white

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl blend the shortening, salt, lemon zest and nutmeg together.
  3. Add the sugar and beat well. Beat in the eggs and milk and mix until well combined.
  4. Sift flour, baking powder and baking soda together.
  5. Add to the shortening mixture and blend until combined.
  6. Drop dough by teaspoonfuls onto the baking sheets and flatten with a glass.
  7. Sprinkle tops with sugar.
  8. Bake at 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) for 8 to 12 minutes. Enjoy!
