  • 0.5 teaspoon pepper black freshly ground
  • 0.5 cup buttermilk 
  • teaspoon ground pepper 
  •  eggs 
  • cup flour all-purpose
  • teaspoon hot sauce 
  • servings salt 
  • servings vegetable oil for frying
  •  onion sliced into 1/ strips

Directions

  1. Place oil in a deep skillet until it comes about 1-inch up the side of the pan.
  2. Heat oil to 360 degrees F.
  3. Mix buttermilk, egg, and hot sauce in a medium bowl.
  4. Mix flour, cayenne, 1 teaspoon salt, and pepper in a bag. Pat onion slices dry and dip in the buttermilk mixture to coat.
  5. Transfer slices to bag and toss to coat. Deep-fry onions in batches until golden, about 2 minutes.
  6. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain, sprinkle immediately with salt, and serve.
