  • cup buttermilk

  • cups flour all-purpose

  • 0.5 cup shortening

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  2. Mix sugar, shortening, flour, spices, and salt as for pie crust. Divide dough in half and set aside.
  3. Add remaining ingredients to half of the dough.
  4. Place in a greased 9 inch square pan.
  5. Sprinkle the other half of the dough over mixture.
  6. Bake for 30 minutes. Cool in pan and then cut into bars.
